As the founder of Mindful Sprouts Family Services, Leah Jackson brings years of dedicated, hands-on experience as a birth doula, childbirth educator, and postpartum specialist across Toronto’s top hospitals, the Toronto Birth Centre, and home birth settings.
Leah’s practice is built on a fundamental promise: to protect the sacred integrity of your birth space and ensure your voice is never lost in the clinical noise.
Fierce, Trauma-Informed Advocacy: Leah specializes in supporting neurodivergent parents, individuals with trauma histories, and families with complex sensory needs. Grounded, Hands-On Experience: From unhurried early labour support at home in the West End to skilled physical comfort measures, pain management, and labour positioning during active hospital delivery, Leah brings steady, calm expertise to every setting. She works collaboratively alongside medical teams while remaining entirely devoted to your emotional and physical well-being.
Comprehensive, Continuous Care: Beyond birth advocacy, Leah's holistic background spans private childbirth education, waterbirth training, mindfulness, sleep coaching, and overnight postpartum care. Her comprehensive approach ensures your family is supported with evidence-based knowledge from pregnancy through the delicate postpartum transition.
When you work with Leah, you aren't just hiring a doula—you are bringing a compassionate ally, a skilled educator, and a steadfast protector of your birth journey into your home and delivery room.
“What I appreciated most is that Leah never pushed a particular philosophy or agenda about birth. Instead, she meets women exactly where they are. Whether someone envisions a highly medicalized birth, something deeply natural, or anything in between, Leah’s approach is to expand the mind a little… to share knowledge, context, and perspective so women can actually discover what they want from their birth experience.”

Frequently Asked Questions

-
Most expectant parents hire a birth doula during their second trimester (around 16–24 weeks), but booking early ensures availability—especially if your due date falls during peak seasonal windows. Connecting early allows maximum time for private prenatal sessions, birth planning, and labour preparation.
-
Yes. Leah regularly supports families across major Toronto birth centers and hospitals, including Mount Sinai Hospital, St. Joseph’s Health Centre, Sunnybrook Hospital, and St. Michael’s. A birth doula works alongside your hospital nurses, midwives, and obstetricians to provide continuous, hands-on comfort measures and clear communication throughout your labour.
-
A midwife is a clinical primary care provider who performs medical exams, monitors fetal health, delivers your baby, and manages clinical care. A birth doula is a non-clinical support professional who provides continuous physical comfort, emotional reassurance, advocacy tools, and post-birth guidance. Doulas and midwives work collaboratively to offer exceptional care for both home and hospital births.
-
Doula support is invaluable (arguably even more important!) during medical inductions and epidural births. Leah assists with positioning techniques to optimize labour progress, helps manage sensory input and anxiety, ensures your birth preferences are communicated, and provides continuous support during every stage of delivery. Leah is a dedicated advocate for reducing unnecessary episiotomy and AVB (forceps or vacuum birth) through use of evidence-based strategies and wisdom of the birthing body’s physiology.
