Duties of a Postpartum Doula
Mothering the Mother
Postpartum doulas can mother the mother, or take care of the mother or parent(s). We offer emotional and physical support. Anticipating parents’ needs, offering professional guidance and encouragement, helping in the kitchen (postpartum meal prep.), drawing a postpartum herbal bath, and supporting with breastfeeding/lactation and bottle feeding. We caretake with a gentle and non-judgemental, caring hand, parents and children alike.
Supporting Partners
There is nothing more important than a harmonious household for the young infant to thrive, and that begins with a supported partner! Doulas act as a guide and educational resource for partners, as well as a form of respite care for parents whose responsibilities multiply in new (or new again) parenthood. We are your in home support team for life with a new baby so that you can be the best support and parent figure you can be!
Dog Care
We can’t forget about our fur babies when human babies comes home! It’s common for Fido to receive the short end of the stick postpartum. Our postpartum doula support can help with dog walks, feeding the pups, and basic dog training with the new tiny infant. Let us know how we can help your canine adjust and to reduce some of the new-parent-dog-parent-guilt.
Infant Care
Whether providing sole care of the infant or participating in shared care and guidance, we handle newborns (including preemies) with expert care and experience. Safety-first, tender, compassionate caregiving of your new baby. From feeding, bathing, changing, and encouraging positive development, we are baby whisperers! Overnight and daytime postpartum support is available in Etobicoke and Downtown Toronto.
The Art of Homemaking
It takes a village to keep gears running smoothly. Whether it’s baking a loaf of banana bread or lactation cookies, running or folding a load of laundry, or wiping down the kitchen counters; our postpartum doula services help keep homes happy and healthy! Let us lighten the load so you can prioritize rest, bonding with baby, and those matters most important in the postpartum period.
Travel and Outings
Yes, we can come with you! Whether you need to make a trip to the grocery store or are looking for long-distance infant travel support; we’ve got you. With a rich background of supporting families overseas, at cottages, and even on airplanes, our travel postpartum doula services are a worthwhile premium for travelling new families! On the local front, we are happy to accompany parents on outings or run the errands for them!
Sleep Support
Our Postpartum Doula services in Etobicoke and downtown Toronto include over night doula support and infant care! We support a variety of sleep perspectives and strive to empower parents to be confident leaders for their infant’s sleep. We also simply offer overnight infant care so parents can shut their eyes, trust their newborn is in excellent hands, and get some Zzz’s!
Our Rates
Postpartum Doula Services are usually a short-term (1-12 months) support option for parents seeking high-quality infant and maternal care in the postpartum period. Shifts can also be booked as one-off bookings.
Our Postpartum Doula rates range from $45-$55/Hour + HST
