How an End-of-Life Doula Supports You and Your Family
An end-of-life or death doula is a non-medical professional trained to provide holistic emotional, spiritual, physical, and informational support. Working alongside your healthcare team and hospice providers, a doula fills the crucial gaps in care—ensuring no one walks through grief or transition alone.
Emotional & Spiritual Companionship: Providing a grounded, non-judgmental space to process diagnosis, fears, and life reflection.
Advance Care Planning & Legacy Work: Guiding conversations around wishes, values, legacy projects, and end-of-life preferences.
Restorative & Comfort Therapies: Integrating gentle modalities such as guided meditation, energy work (reiki), and soothing touch.
Vigil & Bedside Support: Offering steady, continuous presence during the active dying phase to comfort both the individual and family members.
Respite & Caregiver Support: Assisting with household rhythm, light organization, and essential breaks for family caregivers.
Bereavement & Grief Guidance: Walking alongside loved ones after a loss to help navigate immediate grief and processing.
